June/July 2026 Exhibition
Liberty & Justice
Liberty and Justice are abstract concepts and foundational societal ideals. They are defined as:
Liberty: The state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one’s way of life, behavior, or political views.
Justice: The principle of fairness, moral rightness, and equity, ensuring individuals receive what they are due including rights, treatment and consequences.
How can messages of Liberty and Justice be conveyed visually in respect to Philadelphia, our Nation’s 250th Anniversary, or historical and/or current events? Submit your artwork to our juried exhibition!
A submitted form and digital submissions are due by Saturday, May 30, 2026. An email notification of juried acceptance will be sent on Tuesday, June 2.

Submission Instructions and Guidelines:
- Your artwork submission must express the concept of our theme: Liberty & Justice. This includes concepts of Liberty and Justice in respect to Philadelphia, our Nation’s 250th Anniversary, historical and/or current events.
- Open to all artists in the Greater Philadelphia region (including Delaware and Southern New Jersey).
- Box Spring Gallery is only accepting artwork for wall display at this time, and work should not exceed 36 inches in any direction. All media is acceptable.
- All work must be for sale, and Box Spring Gallery will take a 50% commission on sales.
- Images of at most two artworks per artist can be submitted to contact@boxspringgallery.com, along with your contact information, brief statements about how your artwork expresses the theme, and identification info (title of work, medium, dimensions, price) for each piece.
Scroll down to use the form below. - Image files must be labeled as “FullName_TitleOfWork” (example: “JohnDoe_CityHall”). Please also put “CFA, Full Name” (example: “CFA, John Doe”) in the subject line of your email.
- JPG, PNG, and PDF formats are acceptable.
- A $25 non-refundable submission / administration fee for each artist must be made by Venmo only, to @boxspringgallery. Please also put the same “CFA, Full Name” in the transaction memo.
- All images must be submitted by Saturday, May 30, 2026. Artists will be notified about juried participation on Tuesday, June 2.
- The 2nd Thursday Opening Reception is on June 11, 6–9pm at Box Spring Gallery, 1400 N. American St, #100C, Philadelphia, PA 19122. The exhibition will run from June 11 – July 25, 2026. (Box Spring Gallery will be closed July 2–5, 2026.)
For Accepted Artists:
- Box Spring Gallery is only accepting artwork for wall display at this time. Work should not exceed 36 inches in any direction, and be ready to hang.
- All work must be for sale, and Box Spring Gallery will take a 50% commission on sales.
- Artwork must be received no later than Saturday, June 6, 2025, at Box Spring Gallery (at Crane Arts), 1400 N. American St, #100C, Philadelphia, PA 19122. Drop-offs can be made Friday, June 5 or Saturday, June 6, at 1–6 pm, or by appointment by emailing contact@boxspringgallery.com.
- Please attach identification (your name, contact info, title of work) to each artwork, and any special handling and hanging instructions.
- An agreement form regarding participation will be attached to your acceptance email. Please include your completed and signed agreement with your arriving artwork, or send it via email to contact@boxspringgallery.com.
- Once received, Box Spring Gallery has the right to refuse artworks that do not properly adhere to the theme or guidelines.
- All boxes and wrapping material must be taken back with you. Unfortunately Box Spring Gallery does not have any storage space.
