About the Fellowship of the Academy of the Fine Arts
The Fellowship of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts is one of the oldest Alumni art nonprofits in America. The fact that we are staffed solely by volunteers speaks of the impressive loyalty and dedication of our Board and Advisors. Founded on April 19, 1897 we have put on an Annual Exhibition every year since, even during years of war and Covid. In 1926 the Mary Butler Trust was started along with the Henry J. Thouron Trust. These funds allow our Board to purchase works from Academy Alumni annually. The result is a large exciting collection owned and maintained by our Fellowship organization. As an independent nonprofit entity, its sole purpose is to benefit all Academy Alumni. After 128 years we are still going strong and remain “Artists Helping Artists.”
Celebrating where art and design meet, Box Spring Gallery provides carefully curated exhibitions with opportunities to purchase contemporary art and design by a variety of creatives. Gallery hours are Thursday–Saturday, 1–6pm or by appointment. Join us for an exhibition reception every 2nd Thursday of the month, 6–9pm!
